When it comes to conscious living, or searching for sustainable luxury, joy is everything. Doubly so if you want the clarity, calm, and peace that comes with the lifestyle. The truth is, if you don’t prioritize your own joy, how can you expect others to respect this as a priority of yours?
As a sustainable luxury blogger, I’m often approached by people who want to change their habits and in turn change the way they relate to mother earth. But sometimes, what they think they want is not what they need.
Confused?
Let me put it this way ⬇⬇
So even if you do go out and get all of the eco-friendly things, you won’t have the impact you want to have on the planet unless you make some serious habit and belief changes as well.
Before you can truly indulge in a luxurious and sustainable life, you need to change your mindset first. That means reminding yourself that luxury doesn’t have to mean excess but it can mean intentionality. So start by clarifying what you value in products, is it craftsmanship? Comfort? Aesthetics? Once you know, you can then select brands that excel in these areas and prioritize ethical practices.
Take time to reflect on your relationship with beauty, desire, and consumption.
Changing your mindset allows you to go from overconsumption to conscious curation from impulse to ritual, from external validation to deeply personal joy.
Is this you? You spend hours and hours thinking of the perfect new sustainable piece to add to your arsenal. One that’s sustainable of course. You want to make sure you’re being kind to the planet after all. You go online and search for the most eco-friendly option you can find, if you get lucky it’ll even be local meaning no shipping. Yet you still feel…empty. If that’s the case, then you need to start choosing better, my friend. That means choosing to reuse instead of buying. Growing your own instead of buying.
Buying less ensures you’re not contributing to the consumerist culture and also keeps clutter at bay. But it’s not just about restraint—it’s about refinement. Choosing with care. Surrounding yourself only with what brings real joy, beauty, and purpose.
You can do that by:
Remember less truly can be more—when what you own feels like a reflection of your purpose, not just your preferences.
The “conscious” consumerism and your endless hours of research you put into finding the perfect brand won’t matter if deep down, your consumption habits aren’t changing.
You might be wondering what auditing your daily habits has to do with living a sustainable and luxurious lifestyle. Well, remember that the most important step you have to take is to redefine what luxury means to you.
While old luxury meant extreme consumption, we’ve seen the havoc that’s caused the planet, and we no longer want to perpetuate that so auditing our daily habits will go a long way to changing your mindset.
This intentional decoration of your space not only helps you create an environment that is true to you but will also have you thinking twice before making purchases. And we all know the impact buying less has on the planet.

If you want to ensure that you’re living out your values, thing 4 is important. Creating an intentional space can help reinforce your changing way of thinking and remind you that you have enough, reducing your spending. Plus, it can spark creativity, giving you new ways to use items you already have laying around.
Supporting brands is a lot more than just going out and buying all the things because a company has a pristine environmental track record. It doesn’t just refer to consumption, but to intentional curation and it will challenge you to find beauty in the “old”.
How do you manage to find the brands that match your values?
Well, it can seem daunting but it can be boiled down to a few things that are important to you. What do you value most? Is it transparency in a company’s supply chain? The percentage or profit they donate? Or the amount of trees they plant?
The key is to research and find those companies that align with your values and those of sustainable luxury living so that when you do need to buy something new, you have plenty of options.
